Day 0 - Tutte le strade portano a Roma

Today is Saturday..oops..no it is actually Sunday...it is 2AM EST or maybe 1AM EST...I am unsure...we are still in the air. We left JFK at 19:30, but we are falling back so it was really 18:30...right? Regardless, the flight is about 8 hours, so we should land in Rome about 09:30, they are 6 hours ahead of EST.

Overall, we can not complain about the Delta experience so far, although it did have a rocky start.

We got to Bob and Kim's a bit before 11AM and Bob shuttled us to the BTV airport right on time. We checked our bags and the TSA was a breeze..all was going as planned. They announced we will be boarding in 10mins, that is all we understood because the gate attendant spoke something that we did not recognize for English. But then a man wearing a pilot's shirt announced that the plane went through severe turbulence getting into BTV and has been grounded.  They might have to fly a special technician from JFK to inspect it before it can fly again.  Initially, it looked grim, but they eventually moved us to a new gate and new plane, we took off out of BTV only 30 mins behind schedule. So they did a good job.  We met the Malloys at JFK and took our time getting a bite to eat before our 19:30 departure for Rome.

We played musical tables in the restaurant trying to avoid the glaring sun, it chased us across three tables and we gave up.

JFK after dinner..still in the sun.

We boarded out of JFK and had a pretty uneventful 8 hour flight into Rome.

We are here and technically already into our Day 1, we are checking into the hotel and trying to get a quick nap before starting Day 1 officially.
